Cacao contains one of the highest antioxidant contents of any food on the planet, in addition to the essential minerals magnesium and iron. It also has energizing properties which come from theobromine compounds, an alkaloid similar to caffeine that can increase alertness and energy. Cacao is associated with elevated mood and blissfulness because of its natural compounds like anandamide, (nicknamed ‘the bliss chemical’) which promote heightened sensitivity and feelings of euphoria.1

Imlak’esh Organics Cacao is sourced from farming cooperatives located in the ‘cloud forest’ region of the Peruvian Andes Mountains. Our Cacao is organically grown at an elevation of 6,000 feet, where the air is fresh and the soil is rich. We strive to source from heirloom varieties native to the region, known for superior flavor, aromatics, and contribution to local biodiversity.
