Maca Benefits

Maca is a nutritionally dense adaptogenic plant known for helping you adapt to stressors, whether they be mental, emotional, physical, or environmental. It is historically used for relieving stress, as well as balancing hormones, boosting stamina, and improving libido.

Maca contains a complex array of micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals that work together to nourish the body's delicate endocrine system, which ultimately regulates hormonal health. Hormones are responsible for everything from metabolism to stress response to growth and development to reproduction, and more.

Vitamins & Minerals

Maca is a micronutrient powerhouse. It contains Vitamin C as well as B2, B6 and Niacin. This Peruvian root is also packed with minerals, including iron, zinc, iodine, calcium, copper, magnesium and potassium. It also contains beneficial enzymes and natural compounds like glucosinolates.

Metabolism Support

Maca contains Glucosinolates, which are considered a key bioactive constituents responsible for the therapeutic functions of Maca. Glucosinolates work by breaking down into compounds called metabolites, which affect the pace of metabolism and trigger specific enzymatic reactions. Research has shown that Glucosinolates have beneficial health benefits including regulatory functions in inflammation, stress response, metabolism, and antioxidant activities. 1

Imlak'esh Organics Maca Powder is raw, rather than gelatinized because gelatinization involves a high heating process that degrades the content of glucosinolates. To increase digestibility and maximize bioavailability, Imlak'esh Maca is microground to a super fine powder that's 6 times smaller than the average powder particle.

Hormone Function

Maca is touted for balancing hormones and easing hormonal symptoms. The superfood does not contain any hormones, but instead offers a variety of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that fortify the body's endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for producing hormones that carry out different functions in the body: from energy levels to sex drive to fertility to mood regulation to brain focus, and more.

Maca root powder is an adaptogen, meaning it supports your whole endocrine system to produce the right amounts of hormones you need for different organs.

Traditional Medicine

The Maca root is a superfood that played a central role in ancient indigenous civilization. Legend has it that Incan warriors would eat Maca before battle, and Incan couriers would consume it to give them strength and endurance before running hundreds of miles between high Andean cities!

For thousands of years, Maca root has been traditionally used to improve stamina and libido, balance hormones, and reduce stress.
